Morón Air Base

Military and Social Importance

Morón Air Base, located in Morón de la Frontera, Spain, was one of three major USAF Cold War air bases in Spain. The prime location near the Mediterranean and the Middle East makes the base a vital link in any operation moving east from the United States. Morón base's use by the U.S. is designated a limited-use base, defined as austerely manned and to house no permanently assigned operational forces.
